Over the last three years i have been studding the 1599 Geneva Bible alongside the 1611 King James and the 1973 new American Slandered bible. (It is amazing how the bible has been changed over the years especially the last twenty)

 

i have been studding the word doctor in the bible and have found, and come to the conclusion that the word doctor in the word of God means something totally different then what we have been brought to believe today. As of today have condensed it down to 14 pages but am not totally dune.

What i have found so far is that doctor in the bible refers to a scribe or a teacher of the law.

And that all the healing done in the Bible was done by Father God, Christ Jesus, or Christ disciples, and we are told that by our faith or by the faith of others we can be healed.

Matthew 9:22 Christ tells a woman “your faith has made you well”

Matthew 9:29 Christ touched their eyes and said “it shall be done to you according to your faith”

Matthew 15:28 Christ says “O woman your fait is great; it shall be done for you as you wish” and her daughter was healed at once”

 

“Your faith has made you well” Matthew 9:22, Mark 5:34, Mark 10:52, Luke 8:48, Luke 17:19, Luke 18:42

 

1Timothy 5:23 Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.

 

a lot of Christians like to this to put a foundation to the belief doctors are of God  and that they will and can heal people.

that comment would be like me telling you, add oil to your car engine or it will ceas up, yes that is true but in no way does it make me a mechanic.

 

The word doctor:

In the 1599 Geneva Bible the word doctor appears 7 times

Four out of the seven speak of Christ being our Doctor the other three refer to a doctor as a doctor of the law. (Not a medical doctor)

 

In the 1611 King James Bible the word doctor only appears 3 times;

One speaks of Jesus being in the temple sitting among the doctors. These would be the teachers, scribes and Pharisees, the teachers or doctors of the law.

The other two state the doctor or doctors of the law

 

The word physician:

Physician is found 12 times in the 1599 Geneva Bible

1st and 2nd. For the embalming of Israel

3nd. refers to Asa and how he did not seek the Lord concerning his disease but a physician (the comment could lead you to think that when you have an illness you should go to the Lord not a physician)

4rd. speaks of physicians as ones who shares or teaches as a forge of lies (forge to build, shape, create, construct, establish, make, or form) and then goes on to say all you are physicians of no value. (Teachers of the word or law who are not right in their teachings or sharing are of no value)

5th. Speaks of those even though they have medical physicians their health did no recover. (doctors not healing)

6th, 7th, 10th Jesus speaks of the fact that whole do not need a physician referring to the fact that He came to save and heal both spiritual and physical

8th. Speaks of a lady whom had spent everything she had on physicians (doctors) and it did her no good, it made things much worse.

9th says Physician heal yourself, spoken by ones who didn’t like what they were hearing

11th. Talks of a woman having an issue of blood, twelve years long, which had spent all her substance upon physicians, and could not be healed of any of them.

12th. Luke refers to himself as beloved physician

 

In the 1611 King James is listed 11 times and relates the same as the 1599 Geneva Bible

 

Healed:

62 times The word healed appears 62 times and every time the healing is performed by God, the Lord, or by faith in Christ Jesus, all healing looks to be grounded in faith, faith that Christ will do what He said He would.

 

Healing:

Appears 18 times and is done by God, Christ Jesus, and faith in both,

The last time Revelation 22:2 the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations

 

Medicine / Medicines:

I have just started looking at but so far this is what I have found.

A merry heart is as beneficial as medicine in vain shalt thou use many medicines; for thou shalt not be cured. the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.

 

i will be adding more as i go along

But from what i have seen read and studied so fare we need to be running to the Lord when we are sick or damaged, rather than the md doctor.

 

Father God created us and knows how we work and operate, and we need to trust more in God then man even if they are called doctor.
