"DO NOT BE CONFORMED TO THIS WORLD"
Not being conformed to this world on your own is almost imposable to do, but with the leading of the Holy Spirit it is.
i grew up in a middle class family, my Dad worked hard, i remember when i was nine for three months He worked three shifts a day at the veneer plant in Gresham Oregon, we took Him His lunch and dinner, sometime in the night He would come home and sleep for a few hours eat breakfast and go back to the mill.
i remember the day He went back to one shift a day and the words He spoke
“I know I had to do it but the money and the things are not worth the time away from family, I fell I have lost more than I have made. We will do without before I’ll ever do that aging”
Money, stuff and things are the ways of this world and have entrapped most with its hooks.
i can say i am not one of them.
Things i find important
1. My walk with the Lord
2. My family
3. Other people
That’s it.
Living in contentment i except the fact things i have are gifts from God; and when given a gift you except it without saying it is not enough, it is not up to me to go out and make things happen to strive for more money to buy more stuff, if the Lord adds to my life i look for someone who needs it and pray if it is the will of the Father that it be passed on to them, or if there was another reason He gave it to me.
i have lived this way for many years, not bragging, but just so you know who i am i have given everything i owned away twice in my life, the first time keep seven tee shirts three pairs of pants, seven pairs of socks, seven pair of underwear, a jacket, my pocket knife and around seven hundred dollars. i have given six thriving business away to employees, and the last was three acers with a 2,400 square foot home. The Lord has allowed me to see the benefit of giving and i have learned; you cannot out give the Lord.
At this time in my life my wife and i live on $1,200.00 a month, and live a wonderful life with all our needs met, we live in a most wonderful location, in a home that not only provide shelter, but has extras, we have clothing to wear, we have food to eat. All our needs are met each and every day, we are not in want of anything, and have time to to enjoy our family and to share the love of the Lord with others.
Let go of the things of this world grab hold of the things of God and find the time to enjoy the life given you.
