Pergamum
Rev 2:12
"And to the angel of the church in Pergamum write: The One who has the sharp two-edged sword says this:
Rev 2:13
'I know where you dwell, where Satan's throne is; and you hold fast My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days of Antipas, My witness, My faithful one, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.
Rev 2:14
'But I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold the teaching of Balaam, who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit acts of immorality.
Rev
2:15 'So you also have some who in the same way hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans.
Rev 2:16
'Therefore repent; or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of My mouth.
Rev 2:17
'He, who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, to him I will give {some} of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows but he who receives it.
Balaam:
Reviled as a wicked man, the cursing prophet, bring disaster upon the Israelites by seducing the people. advises Egypt's Pharaoh hoe to enslaving the Jews, advised Balakas to select the handsomest daughters of the Midianites, who should lead the Israelites to idolatry.
Nicolaitans:
Eaters of "things sacrificed to idols" purposely deceiving Christian at gatherings in to eating food they had sacrificed to idol, practices evil Nicolaitans appears to have been a form of antinomianism. (Antinomianism: A belief that is based upon the recognition of the mercy of God as the ground of salvation, but it makes the fatal mistake that man can freely partake in sin because the Law of God is no longer binding. It held the truth on the gratuitous reckoning of righteousness; but supposed that a mere intellectual “belief” in this truth had a saving power.) Hierarchy of a ruling class over the rest of the people, developing a pecking order of fleshly leadership. Jesus hates this and warns the people to repent or else
So:
1. Do not be like Balaam
A. who was wicked man
B. who was a cursing prophet
C. who brought disaster upon the Israelites by seducing the people
D. who helpped enslaving the Jews
E. who lead the Israelites to idolatry
2. Do not be as the Nicolaitans
A. eaters of things sacrificed to idols
B. purposely deceiving Christian at gatherings in to Eating food they had sacrificed to idol (Idol: any thing that detours from God)
C. Practices evil
3. Do not act superior over others
We must:
1. Repent
Or: 1. the Lord says;
"I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of My mouth."
