Mark 13:1
One day as Jesus came out of the Temple, one of his disciples said to him, Master, look at what wonderful stones, and what wonderful buildings are here.
Then Jesus answered and said to him, “Do you see these great buildings?
There will not be left one stone upon another that will not be thrown down. And as he sat on the Mount of Olives, over against the Temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked him secretly,
Tell us, when will these things take place?
And what will be the sign when all these things will be accomplished?
Jesus answered them, saying; See to it that no one misleads you.
For many will come in my Name, saying, I am Christ, and they will deceive many, leading them away from the truth.
There is something here that I have seen a glimpse of but thank i now see more clearly and somewhat understand.
The disciples who made the statement about the wonderful stones and the wonderful buildings are the same people today that see a big fancy building as a sign of something good. It is amazing how in this country and just about every other country a big church is looked upon as a healthy prospers church, but in some other countries people are willing to stand or set out in the weather just to hear the word of God.
Jesus said feed my sheep, Jesus said take care of the widow and the orphan, Jesus said give to caesar what is caesars, and give to God what is Gods.
We are also told to bring in to the store house so that none will be in need.
But instead Christians seem to try and hold on to everything they can get their greedy little hands on, when it comes to the widow and orphans it seems except for Christmas they are forgotten just like the elderly that are taken to an old folk’s home dropped off and forgotten.
And when it comes to bringing to the store house so that none will be in need instead what is brought in pays large salary’s and for upkeep of a building that most of the week sets empty,
millions of dollars that could have been spent to help the body but instead are squandered on worldly things to make a good impression on people who could care less about the things of God, most non-believers see the waist of the church of today and the hypocrisy.
Our concept between a need and a wont are so scored up, we think more is better, the more we can get and hold on to the better off we are,
if I am told I need it I must need it.
Our time is spent striving to make that next dollar so we can spend it on the next frivolous thing we tell our self we need,
and when it comes to the church it is no different, leadership think a big fancy building is going to draw in the crowds, so they can gather more money to receive a larger salary and build a bigger kingdom for them self’s, and it seems to work that way but the body is not feed to grow and follow Christ it seems to be grown to follow the man, his words and to buy his books, not the book of God.
i do know there are some large churches that do still care for the flock but they are few and far between.
think about it the Lord said to take care of His sheep not dump your dollars in to a building so the building can save people, He said the buildings will be flattened. (yes He was speeking of Him self but He was also speeking of the kingmoms we build)
The average mega church in 2014 had a budget ranging between $2,000,000 and $10,000,000 dollars and the head pastor was paid from $147,000 to $400,000 plus housing expense, ministry expense and health insurance, travel expense, and was set up with a retirement account.
(This is according to the US Church foundation that keeps track of such things)
How many people could have been helped just from the salary and benefits of one of these pastors?
My question;
Why are we paying so much out for something that was given to us for free?
i understand the verse that speaks of a worker is worth of His pay, put when his pay is ten times more the average member in the church something is wrong.
And when a church spends millions upon millions of dollars to erect a building when members of that body can hardly afford their home and to put food on the table something is wrong.
We have been deceived and led astray like lams to the slaughter, by the ones who are suposto build us up, teach and protect us.
Think about it.
