1Timathy 6:20-21 1995 NASB
¶ O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you, avoiding worldly and empty chatter and the opposing arguments of what is falsely called “knowledge” which some have professed and thus gone astray from the faith. Grace be with you.
Falsely called “knowledge” which in the 1599 Geneva Bible is called science
20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed unto thee, and avoid prophane and vine babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called,
21 Which while some profess, they have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee, Amen.
The point to take from First Timathy 6:20-21 looks to be;
As believers in / followers of Christ the Lord, Jesus.
We should avoid prophane and vine babblings, worldly and empty chatter.
Arguing about things that are not in line with the word of GOD, weakens the faith of the believer.
For by doing so you open yourself up to doubt, to question things concerning the teachings of the word of GOD, by doing so you can go astray from the faith.
This is why it is a good thing to except the Holy Spirit’s leading and teaching.
John 14:26
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.
2Timathy 1:13-14
Retain the standard of sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.
Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you.
1Timathy 1:8-11
¶ But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching, according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted.
2Timathy 2:14-19
¶ Remind them of these things, and solemnly charge them in the presence of God not to wrangle about words, which is useless and leads to the ruin of the hearers.
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.
But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness, and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, men who have gone astray from the truth saying that the resurrection has already taken place, and they upset the faith of some.
Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to abstain from wickedness.”
The word of GOD means just what it says. The things listed in
1 Timathy 1:8-11 are things that are not of Godly way.
Most have been excepted by many of the so called organized Churches and so called Christians now days,
(as it was in the days of Noah)
Having worldly conversations about such things opens the door of your heart, mind and soul to worldly concepts, and so-called truths.
Remain in the faith by clinging to the words of Father God and the Lord Jesus,
constantly listening to the still small voice of the Holy Spirit, your teacher.
