Day 12

(11)

Prayer

Psalms 23: 1-6

  • The Lord is my shepherd,
  • I shall not want.
  • He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
  • He leads me beside quiet waters.
  • He restores my soul;
  • He guides me in the paths of righteousness, For His name’s sake.
  • Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil;
  • for You are with me;
  • Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
  • You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
  • You have anointed my head with oil;
  • My cup overflows.
  • Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life,
  • And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Matthew 6:9-13

  • Our Father who art in heaven,
  • Hallowed be Your name.
  • Your Kingdom come,
  • Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.
  • Give us this day our daily bread.
  • And forgive us our debs, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
  • And do not lead us into temptation,
  • but deliver us from evil.
  • For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.
  • Amen.

We have been given these two prayers as an example of how we are to pray. Prayer  is very simple, in the word of God we are given examples of both how to pray and how not to pray.

You could put together a whole book just on prayer, Oh I guess that has been done. Or you could read what the lord says about it and keep it simple, and to the point.

We are told that the Lord knows our need and He will provide them if we obey His words, and do not doubt Him.

Matthew 7: 7-11

  • Ask, and it shall be given to you;
  • seek, and you shall find;
  • knock and it shall be opened to you.

        For every one who ask receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it shall be opened Or what man is there among you, when his son shall ask him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he gives him a snake?

Our prayers are not answered for two basic reasons, our doubt and we ask a miss, we ask for what we want not for what need or what the Lord has or wants for us.

Matthew 21:21        And Jesus answered and said to them, “Truly I say to you, if you have the faith, and do not doubt, you shall not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, Be taken up and cast in to the sea, it shall happen”.

If you are in the will of God, Everything you ask for in prayer, believing, in faith without doubt, will be done unto you. But if you have doubts in your heart don’t expect anything from God.

Why should we doubt the creator of the universe? i believe it comes from fearing man more than God.
