Proverbs 4:1-9
Hear, O sons, the instruction of a father,
And give attention that you may gain understanding,
For I give you sound teaching;
Do not abandon my instruction.
When I was a son to my father,
Tender and the only son in the sight of my mother,
Then he taught me and said to me,
“Let your heart hold fast my words;
Keep my commandments and live;
Acquire wisdom! Acquire understanding!
Do not forget nor turn away from the words of my mouth.
Do not forsake her,
and she will guard you;
Love her, and she will watch over you.
The beginning of wisdom is: Acquire wisdom;
And with all your acquiring, get understanding.
Prize her, and she will exalt you;
She will honor you if you embrace her.
She will place on your head a garland of grace;
She will present you with a crown of beauty.”

a few key observation that should be taken here:
“Hear, O sons, the instruction of a father,
And give attention that you may gain understanding,
For I give you sound teaching;
Do not abandon my instruction.
When I was a son to my father,
Tender and the only son in the sight of my mother,”
1. 4:1-2
We are to give attention to the instruction given by a father.
No matter if we are young or old our Father is GOD
and He has given us instructions as to how we are to live.
For His instructions are sound teachings
bringing understanding to those who do not wonder from them
2. 4:3
When I was a son to my father,
Tender and the only son in the sight of my mother,
this speaks of being young and receiving instruction from your father
as all of us are well aware society has broken down over the years that now
many families do not have a dad,
and many that do, do not have a dad that teaches Godly morals values.
But what you need to know is;
that no mater if you have a earthly dad or not
or if you have a dad who does not teach you Godly Moral values,
that does not share wisdom with you.
You do have a Father who will if you will listen.
We are told of our Father in heaven many times in the Bible:
Matthew 6:9
We are told to pray to Him;
“Pray, then, in this way:
‘Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.”
Matthew 7:11
We are told He will give us what is good;
“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children,
how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!
Matthew 12:50
Jesus tells us we are part of His family, that makes His Father our Father;
“For whoever does the will of My Father who is in heaven,
he is My brother and sister and mother.”
Matthew 23:9
“Do not call anyone on earth your father;
for One is your Father,
He who is in heaven.
Hear, O sons, the instruction of a father,
And give attention that you may gain understanding,
When i read this, i remember growing up and being told
“A young man should be seen and not heard”
i had a great advantage growing up,
my Dad was old enough to have been my Grandpa
and my Grandpa was still alive.
i was allowed the advantage to learn things
that kids my own age were never taught.
To show respect and honor to those older than yourself,
To listen and watch,
to gain wisdom through those who had lived through life experiences
and had gained wisdom understanding and knowledge.
To be quite, to pay attention, to evaluate why things were dune, and the way they were
rather than interrupting and having to put my two cents in.
To only ask questions when no one ells was speaking,
then listening to the answer rather than constantly interrupting.
We had real conversations.
This is how i grew up.
i believe this how Father God would like us to be with Him
and His Son and the Holy Spirit.
And how we gain His wisdom and understanding,
Ask the question:
Lord God i need wisdom, understanding and knowledge from You,
So, i can fulfill this life you have given me,
to be the man you created me to be.
Then be still,
be quiet so that i can hear His instructions,
His commandments, and understand them.
Giving Him the time to have a true conversation,
taking the time in prayer to not only speak with Him but to listen
and wait for His answer.
listen
Psalm 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God:
I will be exalted among the heathen,
I will be exalted in the earth.
Be still and know.
Pay attention Learn the commandments of GOD,
and follow them.
Adhere them to your heart,
Proverbs 3:3
Do not let kindness and truth leave you;
Bind them around your neck,
Write them on the tablet of your heart.
Proverbs 6:21
Bind them continually on your heart;
Tie them around your neck. }}}
Then he taught me and said to me,
“Let your heart hold fast my words;
Keep my commandments and live;
Acquire wisdom!
Acquire understanding!
Do not forget nor turn away from the words of my mouth.
Wisdom is the principal thing,
and with getting wisdom will come understanding,
Wisdom and understanding will birth good judgment and discretion.
The beginning of wisdom is to fear God,
through fearing God you will gain the wisdom to understand
why you should have fear of God,
and understand the importance of obeying His teachings and commandments.
“Acquire wisdom! Acquire understanding!
Do not forget nor turn away from the words of my mouth.
Do not forsake her,
and she will guard you;
Love her, and she will watch over you.
The beginning of wisdom is: Acquire wisdom;
And with all your acquiring, get understanding.
Prize her, and she will exalt you;
She will honor you if you embrace her.
She will place on your head a garland of grace;
She will present you with a crown of beauty.”

“” Be still and know I am GOD””
Key; “Be still” listen and then you wil know.
i will leave you with this little bit of wisdom from Christ our Lord,
and throw in a little understand as to why we should bind it in our hearts:
Matthew 22:36
“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?”
And Jesus said to him,
“ ‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART,
AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL,
AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’
This is the great and foremost commandment.
The second is like it,
‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’
On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”
Mark 11:26
[“But if you do not forgive,
neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your transgressions.”]
