Luke 12:15-40
Then Jesus said to them,
“Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed;
for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions.”
And Jesus told them a parable, saying,
“The land of a rich man was very productive.
And he began reasoning to himself, saying,
‘What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?’
Then Jesus said,
“and the man will say this is what I will do:
I will tear down my barns and build larger ones,
and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
And I will say to my soul,
“Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry.”’
But God said to him,
‘You foolish man!
This very night your soul is required of you;
and now who will own what you have prepared?’
So is the man who stores up treasure for himself,
and is not rich toward God.”
[[ we think we are doing such a great thing gathering and storing up things of this world,
But in the words spoken by Christ Jesus we are shown that all that we have is but foolishness,
The greatest treasure we can store up is the word of GOD in our soul, in our heart.
Our treasure should be in heaven not in this world. ]]
And Jesus said to His disciples,
“For this reason I say to you,
do not worry about your life,
as to what you will eat;
nor for your body,
as to what you will put on.
For life is more than food,
and the body more than clothing.
Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap;
they have no storeroom nor barn,
and yet God feeds them;
how much more valuable you are than the birds!
And which of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life’s span?
If then you cannot do even a very little thing,
why do you worry about other matters?
Consider the lilies, how they grow:
they neither toil nor spin; but I tell you,
not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.
But if God so clothes the grass in the field,
which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace,
how much more will He clothe you?
You men of little faith!
And do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink,
and do not keep worrying.
For all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek;
but your Father knows that you need these things.
But seek His kingdom,
and these things will be added to you.
Do not be afraid, little flock,
for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.
Sell your possessions and give to charity;
make yourselves money belts which do not wear out,
an unfailing treasure in heaven,
where no thief comes near nor moth destroys.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Be dressed in readiness, and keep your lamps lit.
Be like men who are waiting for their master when he returns from the wedding feast,
so that they may immediately open the door to him when he comes and knocks.
Blessed are those slaves whom the master will find on the alert when he comes;
truly I say to you,
that he will gird himself to serve,
and have them recline at the table,
and will come up and wait on them.
Whether he comes in the second watch, or even in the third,
and finds them so, blessed are those slaves.
“But be sure of this,
that if the head of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming,
he would not have allowed his house to be broken into.
You too, be ready;
for the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not expect.”
[[ we are to be ready at all times for the Lord’s return,
We are to be ever mindful of Him and be eagerly waiting for Him
Not running around gathering things unto our self,
Then saying;
‘I have provided, and I have no need’
for when doing so one becomes lazy and forgets to wait and watch,
and the Master,
the Lord will return and find His bride not looking for Him,
but rather He will find them being entertained by the world and the ways of this world.
And just like the five foolish virgins who were not prepared
those who did not have oil for their lamps and were shut out from the wedding fest.
Those who are not watching for the return of Christ Jesus will be closed out from heaven. (Matthew 25:1-13)
Are you eagerly waiting for the Lords return? ]]
John 3:31-36
“He who comes from above is above all,
he who is of the earth is from the earth and speaks of the earth.
He who comes from heaven is above all.
What He has seen and heard, of that He testifies;
and no one receives His testimony.
He who has received His testimony has set his seal to this,
that God is true.
For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God;
for He gives the Spirit without measure.
The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand.
He who believes in the Son has eternal life;
but he who does not obey the Son will not see life,
but the wrath of God abides on him.”
[[ will you see the life Christ has given you?
Are you obeying His word?
Are your treasures in heven?
For Christ Jesus said:
"he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but will instead he will partake in the wrath of God." ]]
