January 11th 2026 Have just completed the Old Testament
Took 37 days,
Will start Matthew most likely later today or perhaps tomorrow.
Am looking forward to get started on second time through,
Even though i know it will take longer.
The second time through i will be taking notes
connecting the names through out the bible
and the connection between the Old and the New testaments.
Also taking notes of the things the Holy Spirit has and will shown me as i read.
There has been things this first time through,
that have stuck out things that the church today,
at least the churches in our little town do not talk much about.
If you read through the Old Testament
It is very clear that Father God is a jealous God
i counted 45 times our GOD tells us He is a jealous God.
Here are but a few examples;
1- Exodus 20:5-6
“You shall not worship them or serve them;
for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God,
visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children,
on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me,
but showing lovingkindness to thousands,
to those who love Me and keep My commandments”
2- Joshua 24:19-20
“Then Joshua said to the people,
“You will not be able to serve the LORD,
for He is a holy God.
He is a jealous God;
He will not forgive your transgression or your sins.
If you forsake the LORD and serve foreign gods,
then He will turn and do you harm and consume you
after He has done good to you.”
3- Nahum 1:2-3
A jealous and avenging God is the LORD;
The LORD is avenging and wrathful.
The LORD takes vengeance on His adversaries,
And He reserves wrath for His enemies.
The LORD is slow to anger and great in power,
And the LORD will by no means leave the guilty unpunished.
Doesn't sound like someone you would want to be enemies with,
But rather someone that you would want to obey.
Reminds me of what i used to tell my kids.
“i will give anyone enough rope to hang themselves.”
Slow to anger by will not let the guilty one to go unpunished.
Already knowing the New Testament,
Then it is obvious that for us to not be punished by GOD,
what we need to do is except Christ Jesus as our Lord
and obey His commandments.
Which seems to be something the children of Israel couldn't figure out.
In first Samuel we are told:
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,
And to heed than the fat of rams.
For rebellion is as the sin of divination,
And insubordination is as iniquity and idolatry.
(( to heed = is to be submissive ))
To be submissive to the Lord your GOD,
is better then anything this world can offer you.
To not be submissive is to parish
For if we do not submit to the authority of GOD
we are committing idolatry.
But to submit to Christ Jesus,
repent of our sins, turn away from them,
obey His word and the commandments of GOD
we will be blessed, not condemned.
Father has made it so simple:
Trust in His Son,
repent (turn from sin) except Christ as our Lord,
And obey His word.
We are told no one can serve two masters.
So chose whom you will serve, man or GOD.
