Matthew 4:4, Deuteronomy 8:3
“It is written, ‘MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE,
BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.’”
Matthew 4:7 Deuteronomy 6:16
‘YOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.’
Matthew 4:10 Deuteronomy 6:13 and 10:20
‘YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD,
AND HIM ONLY.’”
Deuteronomy 6:13-15
“You shall fear only the LORD your God;
and you shall worship Him and swear by His name.
You shall not follow other gods,
any of the gods of the peoples who surround you for the LORD your God
in the midst of you is a jealous God;
otherwise the anger of the LORD your God will be kindled against you,
and He will wipe you off the face of the earth.”
Matthew 4:17
From that time Jesus began to preach and say,
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Matthew 4:19
“Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Matthew 5:3-12
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
((Poor in spirit is to recognize your neediness before the Lord,
humbly showing humility before GOD.))
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”
((To mourn is to have deep sorrow, regret for your sin’s))
“Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.”
((To be gentle is to be kind, to have a tender temperament, not being harsh))
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”
((To hunger and thirst for righteousness is to consistently be dedicated to live a life that is actively in full obedience of Christ our Lord.))
“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.”
((To live a life with compassion for others))
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”
((A pure heart is a heart that has a single purpose toward GOD in obedience with His commandments))
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”
((One who makes peace by reconciling those who are at odds with each other))
“Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of
righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
(Jesus explains this)
“Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you,
and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great;
for in the same way they persecuted the prophets
who were before you.”
((In other-words if we live by the word of GOD obey His commandments,
live for Him not our selves or the world and its ways,
we will be blessed
We will inherit the kingdom of heaven
We will be comforted
We will inherit the earth
We will be satisfied We will receive mercy
We will see God
We will be called sons of God
The kingdom of heaven will be ours
Obeying the word of GOD seems to be such a better plan
compared to the other option.
But then each of us has to choose the path we will take,
Follow after the ways of the LORD or
go right on following after the world and its ways.
Proverbs 8:13
“The fear of the LORD is to hate evil;
Pride and arrogance and the evil way
And the perverted mouth, I hate.
Zechariah 8:17
Also let none of you devise evil in your heart against another,
and do not love perjury;
for all these are what I hate,’ declares the LORD.”
In Revelation Jesus says;
“I have this against you” /
“I have a few things against you.” /
“I know your deeds”
Revelation 2:4
“But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.”
Revelation 2:14
“But I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold the teaching of Balaam,
who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block
before the sons of Israel,
((before the Christians of today))
to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit acts of immorality”
Revelation 2:20
“But I have this against you,
that you tolerate the woman Jezebel,
who calls herself a prophetess,
and she teaches and leads My bond-servants astray
so that they commit acts of immorality
and eat things sacrificed to idols.
So you also have some
who in the same way hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans.”
Revelation 3:15-16
“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot;
I wish that you were cold or hot.
So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold,
I will spit you out of My mouth.”
Is living contrary to the word of GOD worth it?
He came to earth so that you might be set free.
Set free by excepting His free gift of salvation.
He gave of Himself to be hung on a cross,
Then gave up His life,
and three days later He rose from the dead just as He said,
So locking in our salvation.
If we will but except it.
