We are taught; On July 4, 1776, the thirteen colonies claimed their independence from England, an event which eventually led to the formation of the United States. And on July 4th, known as Independence Day, Americans celebrate this historic event.
Our independence was from Britain, and there were only 10 colonies that voted yes Pennsylvania and Carolina voted no and New York sustained (no great surprise there) and New York is still fighting against independence for America.
What we are not taught is that the pilgrims came to America to be independent from Britain for freedom of religion, the freedom to love and serve Christ Jesus, and everything that proceeded from there brought us to July 4th 1776.
Most Christians now days don’t really understand they not only have the responsibility but the right to freely worship Jesus.
So many have gotten tied up with the separation of church and state and have given up freedom of religion for freedom of state, and spend more time involved in the manners of the state rather than the manners of God.
As a Christian you are free to worship the Lord freely without concern of the state, no matter what the states says.
This freedom cost more than most would be willing to pay, but Jesus gave of Himself so that you can be free (independent of your sins) to worship Him, and Him alone,
The Christ not the Government, not a game or its player, not an worldly event, When we as Christians celebrate independence we should celebrate our independence from this world and its ways but more so we should celebrate our freedom to worship the one true King, King Jesus.
So how is this day of celebration spent?
- Trying to make everything just right for your great party?
- Or waiting for that moment of the last touchdown?
- Or anticipation of the great light show?
- Or that great sale at your favorite store?
- Or ???????
- Or will you spend today thanking Father God for sending His son Jesus to hang on the cross so you can ask for forgiveness have freedom from sin?
That’s not to say you will not sin aging for we have all fallen short,
but when we sin we have the freedom to go to the Father in the name of Jesus and ask to be forgiven so that we can continue to move forward in the freedom Christ has given us, for through salvation Christ has truly given us real freedom.
Chose this day who you will serve; man (the world) and his freedom which can be taken away at any moment. Or Christ Jesus Who freely gives freedom and by your choice you can have for eternity.
Aging the choice is yours.
Have a blessed fourth.
