The testing of Job

Job 1:6-12
¶ Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them.

The LORD said to Satan,
“From where do you come?”
Then Satan answered the LORD and said,
“From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.”

The LORD said to Satan,
“Have you considered My servant Job?
For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil.”
Then Satan answered the LORD,
“Does Job fear God for nothing?
Have You not made a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side?
You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.
But put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has; he will surely curse You to Your face.”

Then the LORD said to Satan,
“Behold, all that he has is in your power, only do not put forth your hand on him.”
So Satan departed from the presence of the LORD.

{{{{ As the Lord has done for Job He will also do for those who are willing to live a blameless and upright life, those who fear God and turn away from evil.
This is something i think we all struggle with.
But in reality, it shouldn’t be that difficult. It seems we allow the world and its ways to come between us and God , do to weakens on our part, more concerned about what others think and trying to get the acceptance of others rather than only being concerned about what God thinks about us.
My goal is to daily, and moment by moment (to constantly) be aware of my relationship with Christ Jesus, to live a blameless and upright life, fearing GOD not men, and as the Holy Spirit makes me aware of sin in my life. turn from it and turn to the Lord.
For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world but to lose his soul?

Mark 8:34
¶ And He summoned the crowd with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.
For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?
For what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”
Ho to be a man like Job, so planted in the Lord that what man think of me has no value or impact on my life, to be so grounded in the Lord that obeying His commandments is a daily goal.
So grounded that worldly loos is not the loss of salvation but rather building of my corrector in Christ my Lord. }}}}

Job 1:13-19
¶ Now on the day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house, a messenger came to Job and said,
“The oxen were plowing and the donkeys feeding beside them, and the Sabeans attacked and took them.
They also slew the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”

While he was still speaking, another also came and said,
“The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants and consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”

While he was still speaking, another also came and said,
“The Chaldeans formed three bands and made a raid on the camels and took them and slew the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”

While he was still speaking, another also came and said,
“Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house, and behold, a great wind came from across the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young people and they died, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”

Job 1:20
¶ Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head, and he fell to the ground and worshiped.
“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked I shall return there.
The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away.
Blessed be the name of the LORD.”

{{{{ Job lost every thing that showed worldly worth, worldly value, but yet when told of what has happened he worshiped God.
For He understood that it is the LORD who gave it all to him and it is the LORD who can take it all away, and after loosing so much he could still say “Blessed be the name of the LORD”.
We lose our keys and we think it is the end of the world, we lose a job and we are devastated, we lose a relative or friend to death and we blame God. We are told Job was a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil.

To love the world, man beast or things, more than we love the LORD, to fear the world, mankind, what they say or think or to fear the loss of others or things more than we fear the LORD. Is to lose our soul.

Can it be said of you, (of me) we are blameless and upright, fearing God and turn away from evil.”
Are you blameless and upright, do you fear God have you turned from evil?

Job is an example for us, of the fact that when the Lord Jesus tells us in
Matthew 6:33
“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. If He tells us to seek His kingdom and His righteousness, then they are capable of being obtained.

1Peter 1:13-16
¶ Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written,
“YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY.”

1John 3:1-3
¶ See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are.
For this reason, the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.
And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

1 Corinthians 6:16-2 Corinthians 1
1 Corinthians 6:16
Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols?
For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said,
“I WILL DWELL IN THEM AND WALK AMONG THEM; AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE. Therefore, COME OUT FROM THEIR MIDST AND BE SEPARATE,” says the Lord. “AND DO NOT TOUCH WHAT IS UNCLEAN;
And I will welcome you.
And I will be a father to you,
And you shall be sons and daughters to Me,”
Says the Lord Almighty.
2 Corinthians 7:1
Therefore, having these promises, beloved,
let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

You can find Job in world history and what the bible says is also stated in world history.
Job being a man of God-fearing God more than men having gone through losing everything even family did not sin nor did he blame God.
But spoke these words;
“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked I shall return there.
The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away.
Blessed be the name of the LORD.”

When you go through heard times can you still say
“Bless the name of the LORD”?

It is sad that most of humanity fear the world more than God?
Are you more concerned with what mankind thinks of you then what God thinks?

As we read on, we see that Job’s standing with God is the best place for Him to be.
The question is are we willing to stand in that same place?
Are you willing to live a blameless and upright life?
do you fear God?
have you turned away from evil? }}}}

i know that was a lot of repeating but it is important to understand and apply our lives to.

Who was Job?
Job 1:1-5
Reading the book of Job, we find Job lived in the land of Uz
and that he was blameless, upright, fearing God and turning away from evil.
{ turning away; is to constantly turn away }
We learn that Job was the father of seven sons and three daughters.
That he was rather wealthy,
He owned 7,000 sheep. 3000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, 500 female Donkeys, and very many servants, and that he was considered the greatest man of all the men of the east.
We also find that Job’s sons held feast in the homes of each one on his day, and they would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them.
And Job being upright and fearing God, when the days of feasting had completed their cycle,
Job would send and consecrate them, rising up early in the morning and offering seven burnt offerings one for each of his son’s; for Job said, “Perhaps my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” And out of his dedication to God this Job did continually.

Next, we are taken into the presence of God;
Job 1:6-8
Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them.

The LORD said to Satan,
“From where do you come?”
Then Satan answered the LORD and said,
“From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.”

The LORD said to Satan,
“Have you considered My servant Job?
For there is no one like him on the earth,
a blameless and upright man,
fearing God and turning away from evil.”

These are the first things that caught my attention;
1. “The sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD”
2. “And Satan also came among them.” Satan answered the LORD and said,
3. “From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.” The LORD said to Satan,
4. “Have you considered My servant Job?”

(1.) From reading more than i could post here,
What i came to was that the sons of God are beings who live in the heavens,
and as Satan rebelled against God seems so did some of the sons of God and left heaven to be with the women of earth, the descendants of Atam.
And when the time comes (Gods timing) they will be reviled to mankind.

What is said about the sons of God;
Genesis 6:2
that the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose.

Genesis 6:4
The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them.
Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.

Who were the Nephilim? They were or are the descendants of the sons of God who came to earth and got women of earth pregnant, those were the descendants the Nephilim that Anak was a part of so his descendants are descendants of the Nephilim, they are or were the giants spoken of in the bible.
Goliath and his brothers would have been descendants of the Nephilim

Numbers 13:32-33
So they gave out to the sons of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying,
“The land through which we have gone, in spying it out, is a land that devours its inhabitants; and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great size.
“There also we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak are part of the Nephilim); and we became like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”
Anak

(2.) “And Satan also came among them.”
i find this rather interesting.
For decades in church, we have been told no sin can be found in heaven; no sin can be in the presents of Father God.
If so, then what was Satan doing accompanying the sons of God when they came to present themselves before the LORD?

After spending days reading and praying for the Holy Spirit to teach me, to show me what i was missing, here is what I ended up with.
When the time comes and the Lord Jesus returns to take us to heaven Satan and all sin will be cast down from heaven.
And sin will no longer be allowed to have any refection in Heaven.

We are made pure by what Christ Jesus completed on the Cross and rising from the dead victories over death, hell and the grave. Making us clean of sin.
From that point in time, it has been man’s responsibility to choose to follow Christ and His teachings or not, it is our responsibility to take our short comings (our sins) to the Lord asking to be forgiving and turning from our sins and to Him. (repenting)
And other then that it is not up to me or us to determine what GOD can do or not do. And in His time, He will make things clear.

i know a little sidetracked but will get to the point of Job

Job 38:7
When the morning stars sang together
And all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Just found that all interesting
Job 1:6 - Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them.

Tomorrow we move on

We go to church every Sunday to hear something new every time,
not remembering what was said the Sunday before.

As most of you know we don’t work that way here, we don’t need something new every week nor everyday
it is more important that we learn what we are taught,
if you can hear something one time and have it learned then why did you have to take so much time to learn things in school????
And then still get things wrong when it came to test time.

It is well worth the time to go over what you have heard and listen to each word.
Take it in and allow the time needed to make it a part of your life.
It is sad that by many, much of the bible can be resighted from member but not applied to real life.
Being able to live out the word of GOD is much more rewarding then just restating a verse.
Please take the time to listen to or relisten to the clip below.

ill be back in a couple days

Here at Hodgepenny’s we take the time to allow the words of Father God, Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit to attach to our lives so we can live them out.

What use is a library full of books if all you do is read them and put them back on the shelf to only collect dust?
We fell it is better to as if it were, to eat the book; to spend the time in each section of the book to the point that the book becomes a physical part of our being, so that our life’s shin forth the book and the one who wrote and is the substance of the book.
And the book we have chosen is the Bible the word of GOD.
The one who holds us in the palm of His hand.
The one who will never leave us nor forsake us.
The one who will be with us even unto death.
The one who direct our path, who says go to the right, go to the left, stop, go forward.

Started reading Job, very eye opening, when i’m back, will share with you what the Holy Spirit has been sharing with me.

Remember to seek God’s Kingdome and His righteousness, this is to be done moment by moment every day,
not just once or twice a week.

Put Christ first and have a blessed day
Out for now

where does your church leaderships stand?
Where do you stand?
Is this what your church is saying?
It is time to stop playing church!
It is time to stand for what is right!
It is time to take action!

If you call your self a Christian then you better start living like one.

Stop playing with the world and its ways, we are to occupy till Christ comes,
We are to make a difference, we are the salt of the earth, we are the light set on the hill, we are the audible voice of the Holy Spirit and the Lord Jesus.
We are not to be in beaded in the things of this earth, worldly ways, nor stuff and things.
We are to live a simple life dependent on Christ Jesus, not money, entertainment, position, fame none of the worldly distractions.
Our sight is to be set on Christ Jesus and keeping His commandments.

As the church the bride of Christ, are we spending our time promoting the world and its ways?
Or Christ Jesus.

Sorry; but i am disgusting by most of what i see coming from most church pulpits and the life style lived out by the church leadership and attendees now days,
Sunday and Wednesday the body sets and hears the word of GOD but Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday it is all about self and the world.
What sports game, what activity, what movie, what I did, what I have done in the past, what I said, how great and wonderful I am.
So caught up in the world and it's ways that Jesus is set on the back wall and forgotten most of the time.
O we pray for our meals, especially when in public,
“Oh Lord bless me”
But totally forget we are to bless Him.
We are to seek His Kingdome and His righteousness.
But most church leaders live a life that says “I will seek my Kingdome, and not live to much righteously, or I might not be excepted by men, those in the world.”

John 12:42-43
Nevertheless, many even of the rulers believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they were not confessing Him, for fear that they would be put out of the Church;
“for they loved the approval of men rather than the approval of God”.

If i find that attitude in the Church disgusting i can’t imagen how it makes GOD feel.

My life is not perfect we are all sinners, and fall short of the righteousness of Christ.
i am well awear of this so i set out each day to grow further in to His righteousness, and try to stay out of foolish conversations.
And to obey the teaching of the Holy Spirit who dwells in me.

1Corinthians 13:11
When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.

Matthew 7:21-24
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.
Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’
And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you;
DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’
Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.
Listen to this and take to heart what the Lord is telling you.

Where will you stand?

Listen to this then ask your self where you are standing.

Are you prepared?
The Ant.
Proverbs 6:6-11
¶ Go to the ant, O sluggard,
Observe her ways and be wise,
Which, having no chief, Officer or ruler,
Prepares her food in the summer
And gathers her provision in the harvest.
How long will you lie down, O sluggard?
When will you arise from your sleep?
“A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to rest”
Your poverty will come in like a vagabond
And your need like an armed man.

This may seem like a strange verse to bring up when talking of survival.
But think about it.
We are told to take note of the Ant and how it lives and works, to survive.
Through the summer it gathers, so that through the winter it can survive.

And that is what we are discussing.
Or what most people will describe when talking about surviving,
The word of God does not talk about surviving the things to come but rather it speaks of the fact that as believers,
followers of Christ we have already been put on the survivors list,
if you have truly asked our Lord Christ Jesus to be your Lord, and have surendered all to follow Him and His comandments (seeking first His kingdom and rightesness), then your name is written in the book of life.

Revelation 3:5
‘He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.”

Revelation 20:15
“And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.”

If you read through the Bible, you will find we are to live our lives out for Christ so others can see His love and care for them, we are the light of this world so that they may see the Lord and the Holy Spirit can draw them to Him.

This does not mean we are to set around and do nothing but smile, nor are we to set around trying to figure out how to make it through each day, each war, each disappointment nor each calamity that might take place around us.
But we are to be prepared, just as the ant’s prepare for the winter.

So here are a few ways you can prepare for what is to come, it is not that you put your faith in these things, but that you do your part to be prepared.
Just as it is up to you to do your part in excepting Christ; when He stood at the door of your heart, you had to answer the door, that was your part.
To accept Him as your lord and savior, that was your part. Just as the Ant collects food in the summer for the winter, is its part. The Lord provides for the Ant but it is the Ant’s part to go pick it up and take it home.

So, here we go: But instead of calling this survival let call it being ready.
For if you are not ready you will not survive.
1. Make sure you are right with the Lord Jesus
2. Know who you are in Christ
3. Remember Mat 6:33 and on a daily basses seek first the kingdom of GOD and His righteousness, and all your needs will be added / provided you.
4. Learn from the Ant and do today what you can do to day, do not put it off till tomorrow. or wait for the government to provide it for you.
5. Be in the word of GOD to learn prophecy and pay attention to the things going on around you. And there are numerus vires that speak of that.

Here are a few things from the surviving survival book; In survival training
1. The only way to truly live without crippling anxiety and fears is to live a life immersed in the Lord Jesus and His Holy Spirit.
2. Rom 12:19 Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY,” says the Lord.
3. Don’t get caught up in the worlds means of survival; stocking up on food and weapons. But rather live in God’s plan for survival; He sent His son to save us from hell.

Right here let’s talk about Loneliness and Boredom:
Man, always has been, but even more so now days is a social being.
This means we, as human beings, enjoy the company of others.
Very few people want to be alone all the time!
As you should be aware of, there is a distinct chance of isolation in a survival setting.
This is not bad.
Loneliness and boredom can bring to the surface qualities you thought only others had.
The extent of your imagination and creativity may surprise you.
When required to do so, you may discover some hidden talents and abilities.
Most of all, you may tap into a reservoir of inner strength and fortitude the Lord has given you that you never knew you had.
Conversely, loneliness and boredom can be another source of depression.
Surviving alone, or with others, you must find ways to keep your mind productively occupied.
You must develop your dependence on the Lord, trying to be self-sufficiency may sound good but if you are not grounded in and depending on the Lord you are missing out.
You must have some faith in your capability to go it alone, but remember the Lord is always with you and leads and guides you with a still small voice, depend on Him and lean on Him when you need help.
Don’t be afraid to ask Him for what you need.
Talk with Him and don’t forget to listen.

Ok back to the Ant.
If you watch an Ant that is all alone it will seem to have a purpose that is because it does.
Like a deer or any other wild animal, it may not go in a straight line to get to where it wants to go but it does have a purpose.
It will seek out food for the colony by going in all different directions, but once it finds a sour of food it will head directly back to the colony to let others know where and what it has found, and then you can see a line of ants going and coming, and that line can be verry straight at times.
Because they do have a purpose, and that purpose is to survive winter.
God provides for them but they have to seek it out and transport it back to the colony, they have to do their part.

Just as we are to do our part, for our survival.
God provides but we need to be active in receiving what He has provided.
Whether it be to grow a garden, to go pick and preserve, or purchase already preserved food.

Doing nothing will give you just that, nothing.

Those who clam the name Christian should understand this.
Jesus stands at the door and knocks, holding the free gift of salvation.
But you have to respond and open the door of your heart to receive.
He provides but you have to do your part by excepting.

No, your works do not save you, salvation is a gift from GOD, but you have to do your part,

Example;
let’s say some one offers you all the tomatoes in their garden because they have already preserved all they will need.
Should you expect them to give you what they have already preserved?
So that they have to go harvest and preserve what they will then need over aging?
By no means,
you would need to go pick, proses and preserver your own.
It has been provided but you need to do your part.

When i was growing up at home, every year we spent three months harvesting, processing and preserving food for the next year.
GOD provided and we got active, we worked heard, but we never went without.
we picked and processed;
Apples, apricots, blue berries, raspberries, black berries, strawberries, green beans, cucumbers, squash, peaches, pears, carrots, beets, pees, corn, cabbage,
Beyond canning thing whole, we made apple sauce, apple butter, apple jam and jelly.
out of Apricot, blue berries, raspberries, black berries, strawberries, cherries and plums we made sauce, jam and jelly
Out of Cucumbers we made pickles, and out of cabbage we made sourcrout.

We also canned meat; beef pork, venison and elk.
We went fishing every other weekend and canned fish.
We never went hungry, and only went to the store for paper goods, milk, cheese, suger and salt.
We grew, raised or went and picked everything ells.

In a survival situation, you will need to reduce the amount of food you eat, and you may not have a simple way to preserve for later, but it can be done,
God provides,
He has said He knows our needs before we even ask, and that He will provide our needs for us even as He does for the birds of the air, He will provide even as He dose for the Ant.

When you come upon an Ant does it look fearful of you? No.
i have never seen one stop what it was doing turn and run away, do you not think it can see you?
They are not blind.
No, they keep about their business and gather what God has provided.
God will provide, so do your part, stop relying on others to do it for you, Get off our ass-ets and consider the Ant.

Who is your GOD?
Who is your provider?
Is it GOD or the government?
Is it GOD or is it your local grocery store?

If you call yourself a Christian then pot your faith in Christ and step up to the plate, trust in Him and do you part.

Surviving can only be done by accepting Him and following His commandments.
Depending on Him for all your needs, when tings around you are falling apart, He is still in control, He is still God, listen to the Holy Spirit who is sent to you by GOD Himself.
Allow the Holy Spirit to teach you and direct your steps, by doing so you will be able to see the gifts of GOD that He has set before you.

Last comment:
Stop being so concerned about survival and start walking with Christ our Lord.
He knows what is going on around you,
He knows your needs now and to come.
Learn to hear the still small voice of the Holy Spirit, for if you learn to listen now you will hear Him when you are in tough times.

Man can take all earthly good from you, but GOD can and will still provide if you trust in Him.
Survival in not about having it is about trusting in the Lord and excepting His provision.

Mark 8:36
"For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and and foirfit his soul?

think about it.
