Jesus responded to the devil:
Matthew 4:4
Jesus answered and said,
“It is written,
‘MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE,
BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.’”

Matthew 4:7
Jesus said to him,
“‘YOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.’”

Matthew 4:10
Then Jesus said to him
“Go, Satan! For it is written,
‘YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD,
AND SERVE HIM ONLY.’”

{{     When the devil comes and puts temptation in front of us our lives should be being lived in such a manner;
Our lives should be lived in and buy digesting the word of God,
We should live in a manner that we are never do anything to
test the Lord our God,
And we should be living a life that at all times worships the
Lord our God and that serves Him and Him only.
Not our selves not the world and its ways,
but only the Lord our God and Him alone. }}

Matthew 4:17
From that time Jesus began to preach and say,
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

Matthew 4:19
And Jesus said to them,
“Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

{{    Jesus is saying the same thing to us today
O but if we would only listen and chose to listen and follow Him.
For Christ Jesus is saying these very same word to each of us “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”     }}

In Matthew 5 Jesus starts teaching each of us how we are to live
     1. We are to be poor in spirit.
Not arrogant, prideful, boisterous, loud mouthed rude nor demanding.

Matthew 5:3
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

     2. We are to mourn.
Not mournful as if we are lacking,
but rather to mourn when others are mourning to show
compassion on other when they are in need of comfort.

Matthew 5:4
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

     3. We are to be gentil.
Not demanding, not having a harsh tong,
but rather showing respect and honor to others

Matthew 5:5
“Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.

     4. We are to hunger and thirst for His righteousness.

Matthew 5:6
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied.

Later on, in the word of GOD Jesus tells us:
Matthew 6:33-34
“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness,
and all these things will be added to you.
So do not worry about tomorrow;
for tomorrow will care for itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own.

O but if we could only remember and live by these words of Chris Jesus,
And seek His Kingdome and His righteousness,
and allow Him to provide for us
rather than felling that we need to do it on our own in our own way.
By seeking to be righteous as Christ is righteous,
we find peace in who He is, in how we are,
and at peace with what He provides for us.
And by seeking His righteousness we find He is all we need,
and the world and its ways just pass away
leaving us with the peace of God.

     5. We are to be merciful.
Forgiving to those who do us wrong

Matthew 6:12
‘And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

{{     Forgive us our transgression’s,
as we also have forgiven those who have transgressed against us.

Forgive us our sin’s, as we also have forgiven those who have sinned against us.

Are you willing to, Are you able to,
forgive those whom you think or feel have done you wrong?

Whether you are willing to admit it or not you have done GOD wrong,
But yet you expect Him to forgive you.     }}

     6. We are to be pure in heart.
Matthew 5:8
“Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they shall see God.

Is your heart pure?
Are your thoughts toward GOD pure?
Are your thoughts toward others pure?
Or are you plotting, conniving always looking out for yourself?

If your brother or sister are in need,
do you with hold from them,
thinking you are protecting yourself?

Or are you filling your eyes and ears with unpure things,
that in turn fill your mind with unpure images
that in turn cause you to have an unpure mind?

Think about
what you look at, watch, and listen to,
for they fill your mind and make it pure or unpure.
Dedicate your eyes, ears and mind to the Lord Christ Jesus
and the Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit) will build in you a pure mind.

     7. We are to be Peacemakers.
Matthew 5:9
“Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called sons of God.
Do you work to bring peace when a wrong is committed?
Or are you out for revenge?
Do you bring peace in to a room when you walk in?
Or are you looking for what is wrong and then adding to the problem?

Matthew 5:10-12
“Blessed are those who have been persecuted
for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you,
and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great;
for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Can you except persecution when it comes to your walk in the Lord?
Can you except when others tell lies about you and speak evil about you?
Or can you live out the seven things listed above
and be blessed by the Lod GOD.

This sums it all up:
Psalms 1:1-6
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sites in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the LORD;
and in his law doth he meditates day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,
that bringeth forth his fruit in his season;
his leaf also shall not wither;
and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

The ungodly are not so:
but are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
Therefore, the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
For the LORD knows the way of the righteous:
but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Who are you in all this?
The righteous?
Or the ungodly?
Think about it.

Did you take the time to read Matthew 13:1-52?
If not go read it,
If you have, go read it aging.

Read it slowly and absorb what the Lord is saying.
Allow the Holy Spirit to teach you.

Aging i have been told i am too harsh with what i post,
i have no compassion.
And like i have said here many times
Hodgepenny am not here to tical your ears,
Hodgepenny is not here to share hallow feel good words to gather a fallowing.
Hodgepenny is here to share the word of God,
to perhaps help open the eyes of the people who come to Hodgepenny.com.
i do not desire the following of social media,
i am not on any social media sights.
And if in sharing the word of God and you find it offensive,
You should probably stick to tick tock, face book and any of the other hundreds of social media platforms out there,
so you can get your pat on the back and encouragement from the world and feel good because some one liked your post on how you felt when you liked what someone ells had to say about what someone ells had to say.

Feed your ego with worldly self-gratification, get your encouragement from the foolishness of this world.

The reality of how you have chosen to lived the life given to you will become real when you stand before the Lord Christ Jesus and you hear Him say;
“Depart from Me"

Matthew 7:23
“And then I will declare to them,
‘I never knew you;
DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'

Matthew 25:41
“Then He will also say to those on His left,
‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels'

Luke 13:27
and He will say, ‘I tell you, I do not know where you are from;
DEPART FROM ME, ALL YOU EVILDOERS.'

This should be our heart when dealing with ourselves and
those in this world those who call themselves Christian,
but do not adhere to nor obey the word of GOD.

Psalms 101:4
A perverse heart shall depart from me; I will know no evil.

Psalms 119:115
Depart from me, evildoers, That I may observe the commandments of my God.

Psalms 139:19
O that You would slay the wicked, O God;
Depart from me, therefore, men of bloodshed.

As i have said i am not here for your acceptance,
for a pat on the back, nor for your approval,
nor for your praise because of something i post.
i gain no value nor worth by or from your comments,
my value, my worth only comes from the Lord,
for it is He who is my Lord.
Christ the Son of Father God,
the one who gave His life for me on the cross,
He is the only one for whom i look to gain approval from.
my life is but a vaper in the wind,
and my only anker is in Christ my Lord the redeemer of my soul.
The only one who’s words of encouragement can lift my spirit.

If i did not care i would not be here,
i would not post what the Lord and Holy Spirit share with me.
i would much rather be in out in the garden,
or beside a stream of water fishing.

If i did not care i would not even be on line.
i never ask for money to keep the sight on line,
i never try to sell you the world of GOD,
nor do i try to hype you up to except the Lord,
the only book i have ever written i gave away,
it is out there some where on the internet,
free to be copied and used.

i am here to help you see the need for Christ in your life
and the need to obey His words,
to see that Christ Jesus is the only way to the Father,
the only way you will enter in to His Kingdome, in to heaven.
And the importance of obeying and following His commandments.

It saddens my spirit when i see those who go by the name Christian but do not live in the manner Christ has set forth for those who are His to live.

My life is not perfect but i am daily trying to live by His word,
to obey His word.
i am a sinner just like you all,
But i am a sinner saved by the grace of GOD,
And for all He has done for me in return i know i owe Him my life,
my worship, my dedication and love.

Jesus said
“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”

in John 14:15     He has given us His first and foremost commandment.
“YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART,
AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.
YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.”

Matthew 22:36-40
“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?”
And He said to him,
“ ‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART,
AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’
This is the great and foremost commandment.
The second is like it,
‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’
On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”

John 14:15
“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”

Don’t complain about what i post when i post the word of GOD, take that up with Him.
Check your heart,
your motives,
your willingness to obey His word,
your willingness to live a life dedicated to Him and to obey.

Father God i come to You asking that any and all who come to Hodgepeny.com will allow Your word to make a difference in their lives that they will choose to truly except Christ Jesus Your Son as their Lord,
and after receiving Your gift of the Holy Spirit
they will allow Your Holy Spirit to teach them in the ways of Your word.
Amen and Amen

Now take the time to read Matthew 13:1-52
Take the time to search your soul,
and find where you live in these parables.

Do you have ears to hear?
Do you have eyes to see?
Will you take the time to read the words from Jesus?

Will you be willing to adjust your life to be wise?
Will you adjust your life to live in the manner expectable to inter in to the Kingdome of God?

Will you read it and say I have read the bible for than I am a Christian,
not applying the word,
or will you not read it at all.

Are you so set in your ways that GOD’s ways are of no value to you?
Open your eyes,
soften your heart,
listen to what the Spirit of GOD is saying to you,

Time is running out the Lord is returning,
Will you be ready for Him or still playing the harlot with satin and the world.

Matthew 13:23
“And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil,
this is the man who hears the word and understands it;
who indeed bears fruit and brings forth,
some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.”

Matthew 13:36-43
Then He left the crowds and went into the house.
And His disciples came to Him and said,
“Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.”
And He said,
“The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man,
and the field is the world; and as for the good seed,
these are the sons of the kingdom;
and the tares are the sons of the evil one;
and the enemy who sowed them is the devil,
and the harvest is the end of the age;
and the reapers are angels.
So just as the tares are gathered up and burned with fire,
so shall it be at the end of the age.
The Son of Man will send forth His angels,
and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks,
and those who commit lawlessness,
and will throw them into the furnace of fire;
in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Then THE RIGHTEOUS WILL SHINE FORTH AS THE SUN in the kingdom of their Father.
He who has ears, let him hear.”

He who has ears, let him hear.

Parable of the Marriage Feast

Matthew 22:1-14
Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying,
“The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son.
And he sent out his slaves to call those who had been invited to the wedding feast,
and they were unwilling to come.
Again, he sent out other slaves saying,
‘Tell those who have been invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner;
my oxen and my fattened livestock are all butchered and everything is ready;
come to the wedding feast.’
But they paid no attention and went their way, one to his own farm, another to his business,
and the rest seized his slaves and mistreated them and killed them.
But the king was enraged,
and he sent his armies and destroyed those murderers and set their city on fire.
Then he said to his slaves,
‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. Go therefore to the main highways,
and as many as you find there, invite to the wedding feast.’
Those slaves went out into the streets and gathered together all they found, both evil and good;
and the wedding hall was filled with dinner guests.
But when the king came in to look over the dinner guests,
he saw a man there who was not dressed in wedding clothes,
and he said to him,
‘Friend, how did you come in here without wedding clothes?’
And the man was speechless.
Then the king said to the servants,
‘Bind him hand and foot, and throw him into the outer darkness;
in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
“For many are called, but few are chosen.”

{{{{
Called or Chosen?
Properly clothed for the wedding feast?

Called you will just show up for the benefits.
Chosen you will show up prepared.

Being called to the wedding feast does not mean you will partake of the wedding feast.
Only those who show up prepared will partake.

How to be prepared?
Except Christ as your Lord,
repent of your sin’s and give your life back to Christ Jesus.
Stop playing the harlot with the world.
The bride of Christ are the chosen ones,
those who love Him and keep His commandments.

In John 14:15 Jesus states:
“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”

The word of GOD tells us:
Father God sees those who have repented of their sins and excepted His Son Christ Jesus, are forgiven, and He (Father God) see them as clean.
As righteous, as pure, for they are covered by His (Christ Jesus) blood.

The sinners, those who are evil but have repented and asked for forgiveness they are forgiven and enter in,
Those who choose to love the world and not Christ Jesus are those who will be cast out in to the darkness and will forever more be in hell.

Just as the Pharisees played church for their own gain,
those today who are playing church thinking they are God gift to the Church and only live for their own gain,
the only thing they will gain is an eternity in Hell.

Philippians 2:1-11
Therefore, if there is any encouragement in Christ,
if there is any consolation of love,
if there is any fellowship of the Spirit,
if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind,
maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.
Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit,
but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves;
do not merely look out for your own personal interests,
but also for the interests of others.
Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,
who, although He existed in the form of God,
did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped,
but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant,
and being made in the likeness of men.
Being found in appearance as a man,
He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death,
even death on a cross.
For this reason also, God highly exalted Him,
and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,
so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW,
of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Whether you except the Love of Christ or not you will show up to the wedding feast,
and either be allowed in or cast out and in to hell.

Either way you will Bow your knee to Christ Jesus and you will confess that He is LORD.
If you have not shown up prepared it will be out of fear but if you have prepared, it will be out of love and respect,

Those who are called and do not heed the call and prepair, will show up and hear these word from Christ Jesus;
“I never knew you, depart from Me”
That choice is made today.
Will you choose to surrender to Christ the Son of Father God,
Or will you choose to live for yourself, for your own pleasure?
To serve the world and self, (the evil) or to serve the Lord GOD?

Wake up your time is running out.
Why would a groom want a bride who does not love Him?

Parable of the Landowner
Matthew 21:33-25
“Listen to another parable.
There was a landowner who PLANTED A VINEYARD AND PUT A WALL AROUND IT AND DUG A WINE PRESS IN IT,
AND BUILT A TOWER,
and rented it out to vine-growers and went on a journey.
When the harvest time approached,
he sent his slaves to the vine-growers to receive his produce.
The vine-growers took his slaves and beat one,
and killed another, and stoned a third.
Again, he sent another group of slaves larger than the first;
and they did the same thing to them.
But afterward he sent his son to them, saying,
‘They will respect my son.’
But when the vine-growers saw the son,
they said among themselves,
‘This is the heir; come, let us kill him and seize his inheritance.’
They took him, and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.

Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard comes,
what will he do to those vine-growers?”

They said to Him,
“He will bring those wretches to a wretched end,
and will rent out the vineyard to other vine-growers who will pay him the proceeds at the proper seasons.”

Jesus said to them,
“Did you never read in the Scriptures,
‘THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED,
THIS BECAME THE CHIEF CORNER stone;
THIS CAME ABOUT FROM THE LORD, AND IT IS MARVELOUS IN OUR EYES’?

Therefore, I say to you,
the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people,
producing the fruit of it.
And he who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces;
but on whomever it falls, it will scatter him like dust.”

{{{{
Father God created the heavens and the earth,
Placed in the earth a garden and created mankind to care for it.
After the downfall of mankind, mankind was cast out of the garden and required to till the land.
As mankind filled the earth the corruption spread worldwide.
GOD saw the sin that by the will of mankind took over the earth,
for it is your will that allows you to sin,
no one or thing can make you sin,
it is your choice.
In His word we are told of several accounts in history where He sent those who were His,
to guide mankind back to Him,
Such as the profits of the Old Testament and those in the New Testament like John the Baptist.

And mankind killed them.

Then Father God sent His Son,
and mankind killed His human body.

When Christ, the Son of Father God came to earth and taught the word of the Father,
The world rejected Him,
thinking they could receive the inheritance without Him
(Like those today who play church and think they will inherent the Kingdome of God.
For they build their house of god on sand thinking they will succeed,
but Christ Jesus the Son of God has to be the foundation of the house,for it to stand.
Jesus is the corner stone,
the straight the footing of the foundation,
of the building.
We are told that the Kingdome of God will be taken away from those who do not build on Christ, on the cornerstone.

We come to Christ Jesus and ask Him to forgive us our sins,
confess Him as our Lord,
but are not willing to sacrifice our lives to Him or for Him,
Not willing to do our part to build His church,
to add souls to the body of the Bride, the Church.

Father God is the landowner,
He has given to us the land to produce,
to bring others to the knowledge of Christ Jesus through our lives,
(living for His glory not our own)
that He may be seen by those living in the world’s ways,
and may,
by the Holy Spirit living in us,
may give the Holy Spirit the opportunity to draw them to the Lord Jesus.
To draw them in to the Kingdome of God.

But when we operate on our own desires and wishes,
for our own pleasure,
We are no different than the pharisees.
Rejecting Christ (the corner stone)
No matter how we live on Sunday,
Monday through Saturday will show where we have built our foundation and what it is built on.
